"The hosted network couldn't be started."

Asked by Henrique A.C.Dias on 01/25/2013 at 8:28 AM
Good evening,
I have Windows 8 Pro Pack and I'm trying to create a wifi hotspot to share my internet connection, but I'm encountering some problems.

Let's see:
1st I open the command prompt as adm and digit the following command:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=ponhoonome key=eaquiapass

2nd I try to activate via the following command:

netsh wlan start hostednetwork

Gives the following results:

The hosted network couldn't be started.
The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation.

Already "rolled the computer upside down", but nothing.

Data that you can help:

Network adapters that appear in the "Device Manager":

-Network Adapter Kernel Debugging Microsoft
-Network Adapter Atheros AR9285 Wireless Qualcomm
-Ethernet Controller Marvell Yukon 88E8059 PCI-E Gigabit
-Unknown Device
-Unknown Device
-Unknown Device
-Unknown Device
-Unknown Device
-TAP-Ein32 Adapter V9

Wow man! So many unknown devices!
I'm finding it very strange not see the "virtual wifi miniport" which is what makes it all work.

've Also resorted to the command "netsh wlan show drivers" and my pc support networks hosted. (see attachments)

In the Network and Sharing Center> Change adapter settings appears:

-Ethernet (Ethernet Controller ...)
-Local Area Connection (TAP-Win32 Adapter V9))
-UK [WAN Miniport (PPTP)]
-USA [WAN Miniport (PPTP)]
-Wi-Fi (Wireless Network Adapter Wed ...)

Here also I find it strange that there is no such "Virtual Wifi Miniport".

I do not know if I can help, but would be grateful if it could be helped.

Regards,
Henrique Dias

    netsh wlan start hostednetwork
well, i got it worked once, working in a stretch for hours(though it doesn't work always). went so far as getting the hostednetwork 'connected', still was unable to browse. the era of great programmers is over; we have only gimmickers around. with one click a wifi hotspot should be created. why the essential are not there, when we are flooded with useless gimmicks. does microsoft has good programmers?
