Help removing 24x7 Virus!
Before we get this ball rolling, I just wanted to mention that I have checked extensively on the web (and even this forum) other people's questions and replies on how to remove the 24x7 Help Virus. Most commonly, people seem to want to use the uninstsall tool that is built in to windows, or they want to restore the computer to a previous date.
Unfortunately, the computer I am trying fix does not have a restore point that is before the installation of the the 24x7 help virus, (it was installed on September the 8th, 2012). Additionally, when I try and uninstall the virus form the built in microsoft uninstaller, it says that a file is missing and it cannot uninstall. Plus, this may not remove anything nasty that the 24sx7 Virus has placed in the registry.
Okay, with that out of the way, is there any way for me to remove this virus? My client contacted the company earlier when she thought they would help, turns out they are a call center in India, and they charged her 199.00 Dollars, and they nearly tried to charge her and additional 249.00 dollars to remove the old charge. Luckily, she got the charge cancelled, but we still have this annoying virus hanging around.
As for the problems the virus creates -- It shows a popup on the upper right corner of any window we have open, asking us to call "microsoft trained technicians" we we know is completely untrue. Similiarly, there is an icon on the taskbar the the left of hte little arrow of a woman with a headset which says the same thing>
Please, please help us remove this!
P.S. I am volunteering at a retirement community, so no worries, I am not charging anyone anything. :)
P.P.S. This is a Toshiba Laptop, about one year old.

Unfortunately I don't have a clue how to fix this problem yet. The shared computer at my work has this problem. Our computer is set up to do a quick scan by Microsoft Security Essentials every week. I just noticed this problem this week. However, I don't think the Microsoft scanner has found it.
Have you been able to find a solution as of yet?
