How seriously are Rams fans seeing this whole ‘Fight for LA’ thing?
For most Chargers fans Michael Schofield Jerseys 2019 , it doesn’t exactly feel like there’s a rivalry with the Rams, and it doesn’t feel like an even fight, either. Not seriously at all. Yet.With the Rams’ history and the fact that Spanos tried to block the Rams from returning to LA, many fans have a pretty strong disdain for the Chargers. Or at least for the owner. So there’s a bed of sentiment to develop a rivalry from. And we know the NFL is going to push for it haaaaaaaaaaaaaard. My take? I think it’ll take root. Obviously a Week 3 game isn’t necessarily going to make it happen, but I think it will develop (a) once you guys starting winning in LA and building a fan base and (b) if we ever get this game in Week 14 or later when we’re both in the midst of a playoff push.As of right now though, we’re busy fighting in the NFC and if anything, fighting for old Raiders fans to come to our side.2) The Rams absolutely beat down on the Cardinals last week. Were the Rams that good, or were the Cardinals that bad?Yes.In all seriousness, it was both. Specifically, the Cardinals’ offense just couldn’t get anything going all game. They didn’t cross the 50-yard line until late in the 4th quarter. So with the field position game cranking and having established the run in the 1st quarter, it was just very easy for the offense to begin to open things up. And given the quality of the skill positions and how well the offensive line is playing, it was just an avalanche effect that the Cardinals did nothing to stem offensively.3) Following on from that, the Rams offense has looked unstoppable so far. What’s working, and do you anticipate that continuing against the Chargers? The biggest thing that’s working is the offensive line. PFF ranked them 3rd in the NFL after two weeks. They’re just doing a phenomenal job making things straightforward for RB Todd Gurley and allowing QB Jared Goff to operate the offense with confidence in the amount of time he has to go through things. Of course, I have to point to the wideouts as well. Brandin Cooks White Russell Okung Jerseys , Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp form one of the NFL’s best trios. Cooks has shined in his first two games as a Ram in replacing last year’s WR1, Sammy Watkins. The Rams had one of the best offenses in the NFL last year and brought back 10 starters. Many would argue the only personnel change was an upgrade. No reason not to buy into the Rams’ offense again this year.4) Defensively, the Rams seem downright scary. Is there a weakness in this defense, and how much of a miss will Mark Barron be?Well, this is where things are more interesting for me. The Rams weren’t bad by any means in 2017 on this side of the ball, but it wasn’t nearly as dominant as the offense was for stretches. The Rams traded for CBs Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters and added DL Ndamukong Suh on a one-year rental to form perhaps the NFL’s best defensive line. But it meant they had to go with near total overhaul among the linebackers. OLB Robert Quinn and ILB Alec Ogletree were both traded while OLB Connor Barwin left in free agency meaning ILB Mark Barron was the only 2017 starter to return. He hasn’t played a snap dealing with injuries that hampered him throughout 2017. So the linebacking group is both the weak point and the group with perhaps the most potential to improve and/or surprise. Even if the group underwhelms as a whole this year, it’s surrounded by incredibly impressive talent. So it might be the obvious weakness. And it might be the case that we miss Barron substantially. But every roster has holes. And most don’t have the cast around those holes that the Rams do.5) Can we get a prediction for the game, and for the Rams season as a whole? Just how far can this team go?Man, so this game is interesting. You guys are the best team we’ve faced to this point, so I’m not sure how we’d handle adversity with yall’s level of talent. I’ll go with a medium over/under and a Rams win, but I’m much less confident in my prediction this game than I have been the first two weeks where I was pretty close (and pretty confident). I went 24-20 for the Rams in our staff predictions, but I think it’s going to be largely on the development of the game. Of the third quarter. Of who finds out what’s working and leans into it and who can figure out how to isolate what they’re doing wrong and cut it off as quickly as possible. Should be a good one. The Chargers are across the pond for their match-up against the Tennessee Titans in a match-up consisting of teams coming off very different outcomes from week 6.The Titans hosted the Baltimore Ravens and received the type of beat-down you never expect to receive when you invite someone into your own house. Quarterback Marcus Mariota was sacked 11 times and the Titans were shut-out in a 21-0 shellacking. The Chargers, on the other hand, should be done relishing in their 24-point victory over the new-and-improved Browns squad in Cleveland.Last time I checked (don’t quote me on this, Louis mentioned this a couple days ago) Russell Okung Jerseys 2019 , but teams coming off a shut-out have won their next game roughly 58% of the time. Now, although history may favor the recently shut-out team, the tale of the tape still heavily favors the Chargers.Yes the Titans have victories against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars, but those teamsare currently playing nowhere near the level everyone expected them to after phenomenal 2017 seasons. The Chargers only two losses came from the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Rams, who have a combined record of 11-1 after the Chiefs dropped a thriller in Foxborough this past Sunday night.I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t exactly smell an upset brewing in London. However, there are always things that could go catastrophically wrong and I’m about to ramble on about a handful of those specific scenarios.Here. We. GO.1.) DT Jurell Casey is one of the lone bright spots on the team, how will the Chargers’ interior offensive line handle the Pro Bowl defender? The weakest area for the Titans to try and exploit on Sunday is the interior of the offensive line. More specifically, guards Dan Feeney and Michael Schofield. The Titan’s Casey has been on the best interior defenders of the last five years and he has shown no signs of slowing down through the first six weeks of this season. Casey currently ranks first among all interior defensive linemen with 18 run stops, ahead of guys such as Damon “Snacks” Harrison and Akiem Hicks. On the year, Feeney ranks as the #72 guard in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus with a 41.0 grade. On the other side, Schofield has shown visible improvement through the last few games as he has worked himself to number 24 among all guards in the NFL with a grade of 68.2.Casey can play any position along the defensive front so watch for Tennessee’s coaches to put #99 in places where he can maximize his production.2.) Can Philip Rivers continue his hot start against a Titans’ secondary that includes All-Pro safety Kevin Byard and second-year cornerback Adoree Jackson?Rivers is having himself a career-year through the first third of the season. He currently sits with three interceptions on the year, although his latest misfire was a blatant drop from Melvin Gordon that hit him dead in the hands on a slant route against the Browns during last Sunday’s match-up.Last year, Byard enjoyed a break-out season that saw him collect 81 total tackles while leading the NFL in interceptions with eight. It’s understandable that he would see some negative-regression following a career year but his numbers are still fairly respectable. Through the first six weeks of the season, Byard currently sits with 34 total tackles and a single interception.Jackson White Virgil Green Jerseys , on the other hand, is in the midst of a stellar season in his sophomore campaign. The former-USC Trojan has 25 total tackles on the year and his only two career interceptions. With the last week’s resurgence of wideout Tyrell Williams, the Chargers have more than a handful of weapons that the Titans will have to account for, and I’m not entirely sure they have enough talent to match-up.3.) Can the Chargers continue their dominant run defense against a trio of threats in running backs Dion Lewis, Derrick Henry, and Mariota?Am I actually worried about the potential of these three running all over the Bolts? No, not really. Mariota has rarely been used as a threat to run so far this season and both Henry and Lewis have been disappointing to fantasy owners, to say the least.Lewis averages an abysmal 3.1 yards per carry on just 60 carries. Henry also isn’t much better. The former-Heisman Trophy winner has just 240 yards on 72 carries, which amounts to an equally-depressing 3.3 yards per carry. While the Chargers rank 12th in the league in rushing yards allowed with 96.8, they are tied with Baltimore at 4th in terms of rushing touchdowns allowed with just two.If Titans want to have any sort of a fighting chance against the Chargers in London, they are going to have to find a way to be multi-dimensional. On the flip-side through the air, Mariota isn’t fairing much better as he has just two touchdown throws to four interceptions.
