Here’s a breakdown of the snap counts from the Philadelphia
New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round of the 2019 NFL playoffs.OFFENSENelson Agholor had a quiet day despite missing just five snaps. He had one catch for six yards and one run for 12 yards. Alshon Jeffery led the Eagles in receiving with five receptions for 63 yards despite playing through cracked ribs. Stefen Wisniewski had to enter the game to play right guard with Brandon Brooks suffering an Achilles injury. The Eagles had six carries for 34 yards (5.7 average) prior to his injury and 10 carries for 15 yards after his injury (1.5 average). Brooks might begin the 2019 season on the PUP list.As he often did in 2018 Black Mike Quick Jerseys , Jason Peters had to leave the game early. This time it was a back issue that was bothering him. Peters, a future Hall of Famer, turns 37 years old next week. Have we seen the last of him?Darren Sproles couldn’t get anything going as a runner with three carries for four yards. He did have three receptions for 21 yards. No disrespect to Sproles but ideally the 35-year-old will not be playing the most snaps of any Eagles running back during 2019 games. Philly seriously needs to upgrade their backfield this offseason.Golden Tate had two receptions for 18 yards while playing 47% of the Eagles’ offensive snaps. The trade wasn’t as disastrous as it could’ve been ... but it also could’ve been a lot better.Wendell Smallwood had 33 yards on 10 carries. His longest run was eight yards. Also had one reception for six yards. Smallwood runs hard but his talent is clearly limited. He leaves yards on the field. Zero receptions for Dallas Goedert. Feels like he should’ve been a little more involved.Jordan Matthews caught one of his two targets for one of the Eagles’ two touchdowns on the day. JMatt ended up being a good role player for Philly in 2018. Boston Scott played three total offensive snaps in the playoffs but didn’t get any touches.DEFENSEMalcolm Jenkins made it through the entire regular season and playoffs without missing a single defensive snap. He also played 157 special teams snaps. The guy is a warrior. Avonte Maddox got banged up in this game.In what might’ve been his last game with the Eagles, Brandon Graham had two tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, and one quarterback hit. He left it all out on the field despite having to get evaluated for injury at one point. It’s just too bad the Eagles couldn’t capitalize by recovering his strip sack.Michael Bennett, who also got banged up in this game, had two quarterback hits and one tackle for loss.Cre’Von LeBlanc made his presence felt on the first play of the game with an impressive leaping interception on an underthrown Drew Brees deep shot. Strap had a pretty solid game, all things considered. He’s under contract for 2019 and could be a nice piece as a starting nickel corner.Rasul Douglas had to miss some time with an ankle injury, which forced 10th string cornerback Josh Hawkins into playing time. The Eagles originally signed Hawkins to their practice squad on December 11 before promoting him to the 53-man roster two weeks later. Hawkins gave up one of the two touchdowns allowed by the Eagles’ defense in this game.Fletcher Cox had to miss some time but did his best to gut out another injury. Great quote after the game, via The Athletic: “I’ll tell you what, I would do anything for this team, man. You definitely, you’d probably have to cut one of my limbs off for me not to be out there with those guys.”Chris Long was evaluated for injury early in the game.Timmy Jernigan played a season-high snaps in New Orleans. He had one quarterback hit, 0.5 sacks, and 0.5 tackles for loss. Zero chance he’ll be back on his current contract but maybe the Eagles can find a way to rework his deal.Add Kamu Grugier-Hill to the list of players to get banged up in this game. Hence the playing time for Nathan Gerry and LaRoy Reynolds. Daeshon Hall, who only signed with the team in December, was forced into playing time with Bennett Mike Quick Jerseys 2019 , Graham, and Long all getting hurt at points in this game. SPECIAL TEAMSD.J. Alexander wasn’t limited in his first game back from injury.Deiondre’ Hall did a nice job of drawing a special teams penalty on a punt return coverage play.DID NOT PLAYINACTIVE: Carson Wentz, Sidney Jones, Mike Wallace, B.J. Bello, Bruce Hector, Matt Pryor, Chance WarmackACTIVE: Nate Sudfeld, Josh AdamsAdams received a single carry on the first drive of the Eagles vs. Bears game last week. Then he didn’t play for the rest of the season. Warmack carried a $2.03 million cap hit to play just seven offensive snaps and 42 special teams snaps in 2018. Not the best use of resources.Eagles News: Jason Peters still looks dominant Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ... The Remarkable Jason Peters Is Back And Dominating - PE.comThursday night was a reminder of just how special left tackle Jason Peters is and that we follow in his path of greatness. The 36-year-old Peters, who was injured in Week 7 of the 2017 regular season and who did not play a snap in the preseason, went the distance against Atlanta (save for the final offensive snap, the two-point conversion) and dominated the line of scrimmage. Age 36. Year 15 in the NFL. First live action since October 2017. Domination.Fletcher Cox’s quest for hardware starts hot - BGNFletcher Cox’s quest for recognition started with a bang and we may be in for a monster season for the eighth-year pro. Debate surrounding the Defensive Player of the Year Award is months away, but he’s already building his resume for when the time comes. In the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles 18-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons, Cox showcased the quality of play that he’ll need to carry him to the award ceremony. The Kist & Solak Show #8: Week 1 Film Deep Dive - BGN RadioMichael Kist and Benjamin Solak have studied the film and come out the other end with fresh new takes on the Eagles offensive and defensive schemes, player performance (these DBs are balling out) and they also get you up-to-date with all the Eagles roster moves. Plus, the unfortunate injuries that are crushing the Falcons defense.NFC Hierarchy/Obituary: Week 2 edition - PhillyVoiceAre the Giants better than they were a year ago? Saquon Barkley has a chance to be great, and certainly, his 68-yard TD run was highly impressive. And then with Odell Beckham back, the Giants have themselves a big-time playmaker. OBJ didn’t have any big plays Week 1 Black Chuck Bednarik Jerseys , but he did pile up 11 catches and 111 yards. So, sure. Barkley and Beckham make the Giants better than they were a year ago. It’s hard to get much worse. But... having a couple of good skill players means jack s*** when your quarterback is done, and your offensive line can’t block, as expected prior to Week 1, and confirmed on Sunday.Wondering About Wentz - Iggles BlitzI think Wentz will have a successful comeback and play at a high level. He plays for a smart coaching staff. You can see that they aren’t rushing him back. The coaches are trying to be smart. Remember RGIII and what happened with him late in 2012 and the playoff game? Mike Shanahan made some highly questionable decisions and they hurt Griffin’s career. Wentz has a strong O-line. Luck would have killed to play behind a line like this for his career. Instead, he’s had to deal with constant chaos in the backfield. You must protect the QB for him to be able to play well and to sustain that success.NFL Africa Zone: The ‘Here we go again...’ edition - ESPNThe Lagos- born receiver brought his excellent form from last season into the 2018 season for the Super Bowl champion Eagles. In the Eagles’ win, ‘Swagholor’ lined up everywhere, from his preferred slot receiver position to playing on the outside, all the way to the backfield where he carried the ball and passed the ball. In the third quarter, with the Eagles dealing with a third and 5 from the Falcons 41 yard line, Agholor ran around on a reverse and threw a pass to QB Nick Foles for a 15-yard reception to extend the drive for the Eagles. Ajayi ran in the touchdown for the Eagles a few plays later. Agholor’s stats don’t tell the whole story, because despite catching 8 passes for just 33 yards, the receiver was heavily blanketed by opposing cornerbacks and had few opportunities to add yards after the catch (YAC)Fletcher Cox, Jordan Hicks, Ronald Darby: Eagles’ red-zone defense | Film breakdown - InquirerThe Eagles’ 18-12 win in the opener was won behind the strength of their defense’s performance inside the 20-yard line. The Falcons made five trips into the red zone against the Eagles and converted just one into a touchdown. They had four goal-to-go possessions and reached the end zone just once. Atlanta’s red zone struggles, dating to last season, have been well documented. But Jim Schwartz’s unit made life difficult for Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan. Every team spends a great deal of time working on situational football, but several Eagles noted the extra time spent on the red zone this offseason.Week 1 DVOA Ratings - Football OutsidersHow did Philadelphia end up so much higher than Atlanta when the Falcons gained more yards per play (4.6) than the Eagles (a miserable 3.6). The answer appears to be “third downs.” The Eagles went 8-for-16 on third downs, and converted another with a DPI penalty. The Falcons Chuck Bednarik Jerseys 2019 , on the other hand, converted just 4 of 15 third downs and failed to convert on their one fourth-down opportunity as well. In addition, while the Eagles weren’t moving forward as much as they wanted, they also weren’t moving backwards. Not including penalties -- so many penalties, sigh -- Philadelphia had only three plays all game that lost yardage. Atlanta had nine plays that lost yardage. As Alshon Jeffery sits, Eagles grow desperate for wide receiver help - NBCSPYou can tell how concerned they are about wide receiver not by what they’re saying but what they’re doing. Re-signing Markus Wheaton, who they released two days earlier. Adding three receivers — including former Ohio State star Braxton Miller — to the practice squad. Reportedly working out former Ravens first-round pick Breshad Perriman on Monday and scheduling a workout Tuesday with former Browns first-round pick Corey Coleman, who reportedly wound up signing with the Patriots before the Eagles could look at him. If you’re an unemployed receiver, call the Eagles. They’re interested. While Doug Pederson may say the Eagles are happy with their current group of wide receivers, it’s clear from their actions that they recognize they need help. Which is understandable.Q&A with Joe Banner: Lessons from Week 1 and a look back at DeSean Jackson - The AthleticWell, listen, I think they’re right to be ultra-conservative. I mean, literally, you’re hoping for the next 12-13 years this guy is gonna be your quarterback. He has had a little bit of an injury history, so my understanding is everything’s fine and they’re just being really cautious and whether that’s one week or three weeks or four weeks, especially if they can sneak some wins out of that time, I don’t think matters that much. You know, if there’s something more in terms of the rehab not going as well as we’ve been led to believe, obviously that should concern everybody. But my understanding from talking to some people is that they’re just being really cautious and I think that makes sense.Ryan Fitzpatrick turns in career performance Youth Jake Elliott Jerseys , sets stage for hot Tampa Bay start in 2018 - PFFThe Buccaneers’ offensive line, which ranked eighth in pass-blocking efficiency in Week 1 (89.7), will face a much tougher test at home against the Philadelphia Eagles’ Fletcher Cox-led defensive line this Sunday. And Evans’ and Jackson’s road ahead doesn’t get easier with the Eagles’ talented boundary cornerbacks (Jalen Mills, Ronald Darby) on the loom. As such, a repeat performance from Fitzpatrick will be on him to deliver as much as it is on his teammates to do their respective jobs against a much, much better defense. Even a man of magic can’t have success on his own against the defending Super Bowl champions.Panthers tight end Greg Olsen re-fractured his right foot - Cat Scratch ReaderThe hits keep coming for the Panthers offense as they finally gave us an update on the status of Greg Olsen, who left the Dallas game with an injury. The star tight end has refracted his right foot and will be re-evaluated “monthly.” This is the same injury that took him out for most of the 2017 season. However, Olsen is attempting to treat this injury with rehab instead of surgery so we cannot predict how much time he might miss based on his recovery last season. At this time it is unclear if the Panthers intend to keep him on the roster or place him on injured reserve (IR). An IR designation would sideline him for at least 8 weeks before he would be eligible to return. [BLG Note: Eagles play the Panthers in Week 7.]Patriots sign former Eagles, Panthers RB Kenjon Barner - Pats PulpitThe New England Patriots will replace running back Jeremy Hill, who was placed on the injured reserve with a torn ACL, with veteran running back Kenjon Barner, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss.Sam Darnold Looks Like the Quarterback the Jets Have Been Searching For - The Ringer[BLG Note: Lol Giants.]Grading the NFL’s 7 new head coaches after they all lost in Week 1 - SB NationListening to the home crowd chant “J-E-T-S, JETS!” by halftime isn’t the most rewarding start for a rookie head coach. Patricia is the first coach since Tom Cable with the Raiders in 2008 to lose his debut by 31 points or more. For a branch carefully pruned from the Belichick tree and replanted in the mineral-laden soil of Detroit, Patricia’s Lions looked like they were expecting a scrimmage session. Matthew Stafford threw four interceptions. His backup, Matt Cassel, threw one of his own. The running game, which got hyped all offseason as a much improved unit ready to do its part, somehow failed to reach the low bar set by its predecessors....Social Media Information:BGN Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBGN Twitter: Follow @BleedingGreenBGN Manager: Brandon Lee Gowton: Follow @BrandonGowtonBGN Radio Twitter: Follow @BGN_Radio
