Adamson University bolstered its Final 4 bid in the UAAP Season 80 women's volleyball tournament by overwhelming National University (NU) in four sets on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan. As it stands, the Lady Falcons are now just a game behind NU and idle Far Eastern University (FEU), who both have 6-4 slates, for the last spot in Final 4. The win also gave them a measure of revenge against the Lady Bulldogs, who beat them in four sets in their season-opener. "We knew how important this match was for us," said Adamson coach Airess Padda. "Every game from here on out, we're playing to get to the Final 4.""It's survival now, so you gotta play every game balls out. I'm really proud of our team today," she added. Three players scored in double-digits for Adamson, with skipper Jema Galanza tallying 16 points, Joy Dacoron firing 13, and Mylene Paat adding 11 points. The Lady Falcons also got a whopping 39 free points off NU's unforced errors. Adamson cruised to a comfortable two-set lead, using pinpoint serving to get the Lady Bulldogs off-kilter. But they succumbed to their old, bad habits in the third set, which saw them commit 13 unforced errors. A brutal stretch which saw them commit five straight miscues – three of which were made by Eli Soyud – allowed NU to take control, 18-14. But they recovered in the fourth frame, with virtually every player contributing Jake Butt Youth jersey in scoring. NU, meanwhile, fell apart and committed a bevy of attack errors that doomed their cause. "They (NU) had trouble with their first ball," said Paddda. "If you were to define us, we're not a strong serving team but we focused on consistent serves. We knew if they couldn't get a good pass, that eliminates Jaja (Santiago) and (Risa) Sato." Santiago was the lone NU player in double-digits, scoring 21 points on 17 kills, two blocks, and two aces. Remarkably, the NU captain also had 11 digs in the game. But the Lady Bulldogs' error-prone ways cost them, as did the struggle of their wing players. Once more, their open hitters – Roma Doromal, Audrey Paran, and Aiko Urdas – failed to provide ample support for Santiago. This was NU's third loss in a row. The Lady Bulldogs, once the No. 1 team in the league, have yet to win in the second round. wholesale jerseyswholesale nfl jerseyscheap jerseyscheap nfl jerseys
